The dA World Tour landed in Toronto yesterday, and it was just a fantastic experience. It was such a great turn out. Seeing so many people in "real life" just puts things in such a different perspective, especially when you start connecting usernames to a real faces. It was great to see artists coming together from all sorts of styles (w00t digital art!), backgrounds, and ages... it's really inspiring.

I pretty much got lost coming into High Park (it's my first time there, and the place is huge!).  But I managed to stumble into a couple of lost deviants along the way... and we did eventually find our way.  I was showing off some demos and just watching people interact with each other

After the meet, we headed to the cafe for a bite.  $Heidi, my wife Alice, and I found a table and hung around with =winnietehpoohie (thanks for hooking me up with the friends mockups!), ~BleakSteadtler (I hope you had fun, and thanks for letting us borrow your iPhone!), ~crackerz1972 (I couldn't help but keep peeking over your cool sketches!), ~CaptainQuirk (you gotta brush up on our previous contests, lol), and ^DaPineapple (who somehow drove all the way to Toronto!).  It was cool talking to you guys about life and sharing all sorts of dA trivia.

Oh, I finally got to meet `sodalicious and `Ghouldaddy!  They've been putting their heart and soul into organizing #toronto, so if you're local, +watch them and keep a look out for upcoming events!  And it's great to see `neom and `picard102.  It brings back memories of the good ol' days here at dA

They do a lot of the-not-so glamorous business side of things so their artists can focus on producing lots of great stuff... and that kind of sacrifice has been very inspiring. They really try to take the time to reach out to their fans (there's always new stuff to see at #UdonCrew). Hello from California

I'm actually hanging out with the rest of the DA crew for the rest of the week.  It's been very cool meeting everyone here for the first time, including +spyed, °spot, lolly, $chris, $pachunka, `dionyziz, *dStruct, `Waveswinger, `runboy82, $jeanpat and anyone else I forgot to mention.

While it's a bit late, here is my promised list of favorite things to try out in V5:
- +Faves (and the ability to remove them) on deviations
- RSS feeds for browse or search result pages (for use in your favorite feedreader)
- The friends lists
- Finding more recent artwork on userpages
- "Last X Seconds" in Today (A neat way to discover new older art aside from the usual newest/popular/dd stuff)
- Embed and thumb codes
- No refresh full views
- Checking out who was the first to comment on your userpage

Oh, and don't forget to checkout the Autumn Grand Master Icon Contest.  So if you enjoy making icons or emoticons, be sure to enter.  There's lots of cool prizes from the nice folks at StarDock

It's finally out!

Lots of really neat things in this version to check out, and hopefully I'll get some time to talk about it later.  Having used v5 for months now, it's really hard to go back to v4.  As we transition everything over, hopefully the bugs (and we know there's a lot) get ironed out in the next few weeks.
