Depending on the kind of screen you use and how heavy your glasses are, some of these images might look 3D! (If you're wearing contacts, these will mostly look flat).

The reds will look like they're popping out, while the blue recedes into the back.

Chromostereopsis is a visual illusion whereby the impression of depth is conveyed in two-dimensional color images, usually of red-blue or red-green colors (Wikipedia)

Awesome comic-con shot:

From left to right: (Thanks to Heidi for the image)
  • Artgerm - Awesome artist!! I just love the way he draws and how he uses color. He has his own studio (IFS), and he'd some work recently for DC Comics and for the Street Fighter 3 re-release.
  • alohalilo - The guy behind the artistic style of Lilo and Stitch!
  • Zubby - From Udon (UdonCrew)! Super nice guy IRL and he's doing some cool independent stuff with Skullkickers!
  • diablo2003 - A super long-time dA artist. I really like his Ultimate Marvel comic art.
  • spyed - Our awesome deviantART CEO!
  • DeevElliott - Previously from Radical Comics, he's doing some neat independent stuff (I heard he's been working with Jo-Chen!)

I wish I was there!

9 years is long in internet time =D

To celebrate this special occasion, a-r worked on a fantastic little t-shirt design. (Which I had the opportunity to pixelize in our header.)

And at $9.99 USD (9th birthday, 9 dollars... see the pattern?), it's a great deal. I believe this might be one of the lowest prices I've ever seen for a deviantWEAR shirt, so a lot of strings have been pulled (well, not literally!) to get this done.

And to top it off zilla774 has modelled for it. =D

So get it before we run out =D

Happy Birthday deviantART!

The dA World Tour landed in Toronto yesterday, and it was just a fantastic experience. It was such a great turn out. Seeing so many people in "real life" just puts things in such a different perspective, especially when you start connecting usernames to a real faces. It was great to see artists coming together from all sorts of styles (w00t digital art!), backgrounds, and ages... it's really inspiring.

I pretty much got lost coming into High Park (it's my first time there, and the place is huge!).  But I managed to stumble into a couple of lost deviants along the way... and we did eventually find our way.  I was showing off some demos and just watching people interact with each other =)

Shout Outs!
After the meet, we headed to the cafe for a bite.  Heidi, my wife Alice, and I found a table and hung around with Winyumi (thanks for hooking me up with the friends mockups!), BleakSteadtler (I hope you had fun, and thanks for letting us borrow your iPhone!), crackerz1972 (I couldn't help but keep peeking over your cool sketches!), CaptainQuirk (you gotta brush up on our previous contests, lol), and DaPineapple (who somehow drove all the way to Toronto!).  It was cool talking to you guys about life and sharing all sorts of dA trivia.

Oh, I finally got to meet mandiriffic and ArsenicAddiction!  They've been putting their heart and soul into organizing toronto, so if you're local, +watch them and keep a look out for upcoming events!  And it's great to see neom and picard102.  It brings back memories of the good ol' days here at dA =)

Much Thanks!
spyed and Heidi! Thanks so much for dropping by and lugging that SIGNED PEPPER SKETCH FROM ARTGERM from Singapore all around the world just for me =D  I hope you guys had a great time here (And I'm sure moonbeam13 and family took really good care of you guys!)

I also got a chance to meet up with Erik and Jim from Udon! They do a lot of the-not-so glamorous business side of things so their artists can focus on producing lots of great stuff... and that kind of sacrifice has been very inspiring. They really try to take the time to reach out to their fans (there's always new stuff to see at UdonCrew). They're just really great people (and great hosts) who have a really infective passion for sharing new stories and art.
